One of my frigates has a damaged component. But the landing pads on the frigate appear to be the item that needs repaired. But I cannot land on the frigate to repair it. The game say "Landing unavailable" when I try. Any suggestions? Ground bases can have up to 9 regular landing pads and 9 of the less-expensive landing pads for a total of 18 landing pads - plenty of room for viewing your full fleet of starships. Throughout your journey, it’s inevitable that you’ll come across other aliens and alien structures. Some of these will have landing pads. Here, all you have to do is fly over the pulsing green circle on the landing pad and press the corresponding button. Same thing happened to me. I was on a planet with all nature, no landing pads anywhere near and my ship stuck on an elevating rock. Realized it after exploring the planet on foot for a while, so old save games were no use. The rock was too high to excavate with the (upgraded) plasma launcher. After suicide I would spawn at a Shelter, not with Even on flat terrain you'll have trouble landing. I just want them to have an option to disable the auto pilot so I can land where I want to. #2. UdderJuice Aug 15, 2016 @ 9:54am. You can land pretty much anywhere regardless of the terrrain. It just needs to be somewhat flat. Press the X button and the ship lands. You can create your landing pad by using 2 microprocessors, 2 ion batteries and 10 metal plates. The landing pad can be attached to a glass, covered corridor, gate, door or room. However, it cannot be linked to a teleport. When you portal to ANY starbase, your ship is automatically placed onto a landing pad, there's NO REASON why it can't work the same for teleporting home. And this has been an issue for a LONG, LONG time that's just absurd. I'm tired of having to waste either launch fuel or navigation data because the game is STUPID. For an easy understanding, a derelict freighter can be found in one piece and you'll notice landing pads on it. For it to appear, you'd need to use a certain item (forgot the name right now) bought from the scrap vendor on space stations, supplied weekly by Helios on the Anomaly or you got lucky with the anomaly detector you found while shooting space rocks in space. .
